Fish

As a diver and underwater (macro) photographer I'm especially interested in the coral, the sponges and the tiny creatures of the underwater world. They are not moving or moving slowly so it is easy to take pictures of these objects. And as a macro photographer you develop a good eye for the details of the underwater world.
But let's not forget the fish.

They form the moving decor of the underwater world. They show us what it means to live in the underwater world. Compared to them I feel clumsy in this environment. As easy as they move around, slowly or rapidly, with no visible effort. And with beautiful colors and shapes.
Lots of snorkellers or divers are afraid of this fish. But, as with most of the fish, if you are friendly he is friendly. The barracuda doesn't consider us as prey. He only attacks if he feels threatened by us. But he is curious, especially if you have bright spots on your equipment.

This picture is taken at Porto Marie. A nice cultivated beach with an easy entry into the water and an interesting double reef. This place is perfect for a long lazy day on the beach in combination with a beautiful dive.

This fish on the right is the Bluestriped Grunt. Normally seen in schools, this one was hovering underneath a rock, close to a cleaning shrimp. Probably awaiting a good clean or disturbed by my appearance in the middle of a good clean.

This picture is taken in front of Jan Thiel Resort. There is a sandy beach, so the entrance in the water looks easy, but look out for the rocks in the water. You have to swim out of the bay to dive along the drop-off. This place can have a strong current, so be warned.
