Fish
As a diver and underwater (macro) photographer I'm especially interested in the coral, the sponges and the tiny creatures of the underwater world. They are not moving or moving slowly so it is easy to take pictures of these objects. And as a macro photographer you develop a good eye for the details of the underwater world.
But let's not forget the fish.
Sponges
Sponges are the filters of the sea. A sponge is a multicellular animal (!). Lots of sponges have a tube, vase or ball shape. The sides of the sponge are perforated by many very small holes. The inside of the sponge is hollow or consists of a number of bigger holes.
Coral spawning
Twice a year, in September and October, one week after full moon, all over the world this miraculous event happens: the coral starts spawning. In a period of a few days several types of coral, sea urchins, soft corals, worms, brittle stars and sponges release their eggs and sperm.
Creatures
My favorites underwater! Shrimps, crabs, lobsters, worms, bristle stars and so on. Everything that crawls around, not being a fish. You have to specifically search for these creatures, because most of these hide during the day or are so small you have to know where to look.
